i hope you all had a great easter weekend celebration. our long weekend was certainly eventful. it started friday when we had some AC issues at home.

going in to summer we know we need to have to take care of this. texas summer months are brutal and this was definitely a priority. unexpectedly, we had to have our units replaced so the guys have to come back on saturday to work all day and get it done.

on a lighter note, we had family come over for the holidays so despite the little AC setback we still made the most out of the visit. we also celebrated cousin daniel's  birthday (you may recognize mom, ailynne  from previous posts here). the kids had so much fun at the amazing wonderwild party venue.

on easter sunday, we headed to church bright and early for the 7 am mass. it was a blessing to be able to worship and rejoice on this easter sunday. sunday brunch followed at one of our favorite restaurants, caracol. as usual, it never disappoints. afterwards, we went and visited more relatives and ended the weekend with a quiet dinner at home with family.

monday will surely be a difficult day to face head on after the long weekend break. anyways, we have no choice but to get going with a huge mug of coffee on hand and just dive in to monday :-)

hope you have a good one and enjoy the week ahead!

i am signing off early ths week. we have a long weekend easter break ahead of us and i can't wait to spend it with my family. i will take this time to possibly unplug and unwind from the busy and hectic past few days. let's see if i can get away from instagram (@swankychicfete) but for sure i won't be back here until monday.

so before i go, i'd like to wish you all a blessed easter holiday. hopefully you'll also make time to reconnect and reflect on what matters most to you.

have a great weekend friends!

easter ready

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

easter and spring is one of my favorite times of the year. lots to celebrate. spring time, easter and ben's  birthday. we tend to celebrate his birthday around easter just in time to have family and relatives over to celebrate both occasions.

here's a little inspiration for your home if you are planning to host an easter brunch or easter egg hunting for the kids. classic spring touches of gingham, bunny bunting and an egg wreath all in pretty pastel palette will be perfect.

easter weekend album

Monday, April 21, 2014

so we had a splendid easter weekend. i hope you all did too!

our long weekend break started with a rio 2 movie viewing on friday with our little guy. that movie is truly hilarious. i think i'm going to get the soundtrack (i love sergio mendes). the weather was also gorgeous so we had lunch al fresco at one of our favorite places. we enjoyed delicious bites of ahi tuna, cheesesteak eggrolls (tdf) and shrimp tacos.

first thing on saturday, we did a power walk in our neighborhood. it was still a beautiful day and a long brisk walk was the perfect way to burn a few calories. that evening, we went to see an easter concert at our church featuring a malaysian-born internationally acclaimed one-man orchestra composer/arranger whose take on classical hymns music arrangements are just spectacular. the concert was amazing as well as his ministry and testimony on converting to christianity was just moving and touching. it was a treat to see him perform.

we were up and at it so early on easter sunday morning. we attended the 7 am easter mass and had lunch afterwards at a newly-opened argentinian steakhouse. it was ok. the service was great. they had a special easter menu but i think i would have preferred their regular lunch menu they serve during a regular week. the prices and portion looks like it was more for dinner and not for brunch or lunch. we may try going back on any regular day to try out their steaks which i heard are really good.

it was a nice long weekend break for all of us. my sis-in-law came to town and it was great that she was able to spend time with us especially with aston.  i would love to hear how your weekend was!

easter around here

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

today, i thought i'd share a few snippets of our home's easter spring decor. i reused standby decor i've had for awhile and brought them out. i also bought inexpensive confetti eggs and filled my glass jars and three-tiered tray. they're a great way to add fun bright colors around the house.

i also found these cute egg candles (they're now on sale!) which i've placed on egg holders and added those on my tablescape.

i've used these manzanita trees over and over during the holidays. this time, i hung mini birdcages i found at michael's several years ago. i almost forgot about them.

my mom picked these beautiful flowers from the grocery and they're in our breakfast table adding some sunshine in that room!

these confetti eggs in primary colors are a great departure from the pastel ones in our formal dining room.

and of course, what's springtime without my favorite hydrangeas?

easter ready

our home is easter ready. thanks to a few finds, i was able to put together quickly a colorful egg easter extravanganza. i spied bags of $0.99 glitter ornament eggs at michaels, picked up a few to dress up my mini-trees. these trees have been a big part of my home holiday decor ever since i received them from my friend, nina. it's been through various major transformation from being a baby shower centerpiece, miniature christmas trees and now it's all spruced up for easter!

i also got a few cartons of confetti eggs from local boutique, abientot and filled my apothecary glass jars with them. i love that they are vibrant in color and the whole easter decor really brightened up our dining room.

easy easter DIY ideas

Wednesday, March 21, 2012

i need to get my crafting groove back on especially that easter is a few weeks away. last year, i tried my hand in creating these easy projects just in time for easter. today i did some home spring redecorating, so hopefully that translates to more spring cleaning and sprucing for our home and easter crafts for our little boy. i turn to pinterest for inspiration but sad to say, i do a lot of pinning but less doing. i want to change that and really take matters into my own hands and start crafting!

cinnabunny rolls
i'd love to bake this on easter weekend. undeniably yummy and the kids will enjoy finding a bunny on their plates. tutorial can be found here

spring centerpiece
i'd like to create a green organic arrangement inspired by this lovely piece. instead of fresh vegetables, place eggs for a perfect easter spring centerpiece

DIY speckled eggs
love the look of easter speckled eggs? here's an easy DIY how-to steps

chocolate bird nest on spoon
i think this is an adorable treat for the kiddos on easter brunch. or ideal as a party favor for an easter egg hunt party. a step by step tutorial can be found here

chocolate covered peeps
and lastly, i am excited to do this. definitely easy and fun to do with the kids. dip peeps to melted chocolate and then dip them in colorful edible sprinkles. easy peasy! full tutorial here

i can't wait to get crafting, baking and making!
