weekend report

i hope everyone had a great weekend! 

it was a packed weekend for us - we went to two birthday celebrations, a movie marathon and treating the dads for father's day!  it certainly was a fantastic weekend. weather has been a little better - less rain but lots of clouds. yesterday was officially the first day of summer and yes, the heat does indicate it so.

last saturday we celebrated an early 8th birthday party for aston. he and his friends enjoyed a game of basketball after a few ball drills lead by a lifetime fitness party team member. we all had a blast! 

we are so blessed to celebrate another birthday for him along with our family, relatives and friends. although he's birthday is not till memorial day, i have a feeling we will be celebrating all week long till he is officially 8 next week. and yes, we can't wait to win game 1 of the western conference finals ~ GO ROCKETS!

it's almost party time over here ~ aston  

turns 8 in a week but we are celebrating with his friends this saturday. it'll be a fun basketball-themed party in our local fitness center/gym. he's been so excited and talks non-stop about it especially that it's NBA playoff season too! 

it's been a busy week. i have been doing last minute party prep errands and coordinating with the party peeps at the gym. can't complain though - i forget how fun party planning is and i remember how i've always love to do this kind of thing!

spa party

last saturday we had a wonderful time celebrating a dear friend's birthday with a surprise spa party planned by her darling sister. we had a great time surprising her along with some of her best friends, family and relatives.  

we enjoyed relaxing spa pedicure and manicure treatments at the luxurious and fantastic isle pedispa. while the dj was spinning some of the birthday girl's favorite tunes, we sipped bottomless mimosas and bellinis and munched on delicious appetizers such as coconut shrimp and ravioli bites.

it was such a fun party - despite the early torrential rains and threats of flooding, it cleared out by the time the party started and it went on without a hitch! so so glad to be able to celebrate with her and our friends!

i miss party planning. i always look forward every year when i get to plan aston's  birthday party with him. he picked out the basketball birthday theme this year and we are having a blast plotting party details. 

 i seriously can't believe our little guy is turning 8 this year. i always say this but time flies so fast and there's no stopping it. this boy is growing up in record speed time.

thanksgiving feast

thanksgiving dinner prep really intimidates me. so year after year i do a fool proof meal of turducken, sweet potato casserole and chinese ham which i just order, bake and "prepare". this year i am sad because the restaurant that we've ordered our ham and yams for over 15 years had closed down this past summer and i am so bummed out.

for those who want an easy and delicious thanksgiving complete meal, i highly recommend ordering in. that way you get to spend more time with loved ones instead of slaving in the kitchen. i do admire those that do a complete thanksgiving meal from scratch but if you're like me, ordering and mainly "heating" up the food is the perfect way to go. i am seriously afraid of ruining a thanksgiving celebration with a disaster turkey meal.

i have long admired and followed kate of wit and delight, a lifestyle blog. i am thrilled to learn that she had just teamed up with target to put out an impressive line of tabletop products focusing on functionality and cool graphic designs.

poppytalk for target

i stopped by my local target yesterday and i was able to browse over the latest party products from the newest target collaboration with designer and blogger Jan  of poppytalk. i was smitten with the colorful whimsy party goods that promise to glam up any outdoor soiree. girly floral patterns (that slightly remind me of cath kidston prints), bright flirty colors on paper straws, cakestands and other party goods. for a limited time, they will be available online and in-stores starting june 22 (although i've seen it on store shelves as early as yesterday). do check it out!

keep calm and let it go! 

our weekend was hectic in a good way and we had a great time celebrating the dads, my father and hubby all weekend. last night, i seriously didn't have any energy to put together a blogpost for today until this morning after my morning coffee! that's just all i need to survive monday.   

also, last night concluded a fantastic frozen-themed birthday party i helped out a friend decorate and i can't wait to share photos with you. it was pure fun in the ice skating rink and the kids had a blast! more on that soon!

we recently celebrated aston's  7th birthday party at a bowling and arcade venue. the kids had a lot of fun and it was certainly a great way to kick of memorial weekend as well!
