splendid opening + crafting

Sunday, October 7, 2012

this past saturday was the grand opening of the first ever Splendid store in texas located at the highland village houston. invited by local blogger audrey of spilled milk style, i brought along my 5 year old boy aston for some exciting crafts, activities and shopping. it was a fun-filled morning meeting new friends as well as spending time with girlfriends who also brought along their sweet little ones!

Splendid is known for their super comfortable, chic clothing. it first started out as a tshirt line that quickly grew to a lifestyle collection for the whole family with several store locations nationwide as well as in canada and israel. the line is also carried in major high-end department stores, specialty boutiques and online retailers.

Splendid partnered with their friends at crafting community to bring creative fun crafting activities for the whole family to enjoy on this grand opening day. kids get to pick out and make colorful buttons they wore throughout the event!

the softest Splendid fabric material was center stage at the fabric station where everyone get to create their own bead necklaces, bracelets, key chains and headbands using the bright colorful fabrics!

shop, shop shop !

fashion boutique soiree

Tuesday, September 6, 2011

i first "found" mirasol yesterday when her halloween birthday party for her husband was tagged all over facebook. i was immediately drawn to her creativity and talent and browsed her blog for a bit. i then stumbled on another event she styled earlier this year, this time a fashion boutique soiree in miami's intermix!

mirasol was able to put together a colorful dessert table capturing the fun vibrant vibe of the chic boutique with pretty flowers and eclectic patterns!

take a look at this clever display of mini doughnuts placing them in a basket filled with fresh wheat grass and encased in a glass cake stand. for added height, she then placed it on top another cake stand!

m&m's were served in mini-floral cups and chocolate-covered oreos were displayed on the cutest cupcake stands dressed up with paperliner and ribbons!

swag bags ready to be distributed!

top chef party

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

i am a huge fan of Top Chef and i am dying to share this "top chef potluck challenge party". a great party concept that everyone will enjoy!

i stumbled into mindy of a day with lil mama stuart's blog and enjoyed reading about this party. she helped a friend style and decorate from a far (she lives in chicago, her friend lives in DC) and boy, i am loving the fun clever party details!

party guests were asked to bring a dish or two, this was a potluck party after all. they had a "quickfire challenge" complete with prizes and the highlight of course was the judging of the best and worst dishes for the night!

check out the repurposed whole foods paperbags as placemats and tons of charming chalkboard signage!

it did sound like a truly fun party that you can certainly do for a bridal shower, a top chef premier viewing party or just to hang out with foodie friends! to read more about this party, hop on to mindy's blog!

thanks mindy for allowing me to share!

mod bowling bash

Monday, April 25, 2011

this past easter weekend we had my in-laws in town for the holidays and we couldn't help but throw a bowling  party as it was my dear hubby's birthday two weeks ago too. he wished to downplay his actual birthday celebration and focused this bash as a little family reunion and invited both mine and his relatives and our closest friends. we had a grand time, to say the least!

here are a few shots from the bowling bash held at the fabulous houston 300.

a few shots from the party can be seen here too!

we hope you all had a grand time this past weekend celebrating Easter with your loved ones!

joyeux noel [frog prince paperie]

Thursday, December 16, 2010

there is something really special about this family holiday dinner that paula of frog prince paperie not only hosted and styled but also cooked and baked the food menu herself. it is simply amazing. i'm not quite sure where to start but you'll see in a minute why. her blog post reminds us that family traditions and memories are what matters most and especially during the holiday season it is best spent to relish that over food and fellowship.

on to the party decor details ~ paula's family is from new orleans and it is but fitting to serve cajun flavors amidst a french-inspired tabletop and place settings. i love the fleur de lis accents, ivory candleholders, pewter cakestand, plates and platters. magnolia blooms and boxwood sprigs were added for a southern touch.

the menu

i like the ivory, cream, silver and aqua color palette. simply elegant!

paula even created the most darling chair back ruffle to add drama and charm
to the already spectacular table!
this is my favorite decor detail!

heirloom furniture such as the buffet and desk above were used to showcase desserts and appetizers

are you guys drooling yet? seriously, i just want to pack my bags and move to where she lives and i will be that annoying neighbor that hangs around her house everyday!

but are you ready for more? her appetizer recipes are up in her blog too!

and the most important detail not to be missed ~ all the printable papergoods items used here are now available in her shop and the sale of this collection is to benefit the alzheimer's association. thank you paula for allowing me to share!
