a wicked cute halloween party

Friday, October 25, 2013

halloween is just a few days away and i've got an amazing halloween party feature for you!

this wicked cute halloween party is just perfect for celebrating halloween with the wee ones. no scary decor or props but an all out focus on sweet treats. lots of glittered pumpkins, adorable owls, bats and spiders for fun DIY centerpieces to add height to the dessert table.

maggie and cristina of via blossom did an incredible job styling this kid-friendly halloween party. the crafty and creative duo DIYed the orange petal lanterns that beautifully anchored the colorful dessert display. i love the color scheme of bright purple, orange and lime green that played along with different patterns - chevron and gingham. that gave an added texture and dimension to every corner of the display.

cristina's daughter who will be a princess this halloween inspired the glitter and glam aspect of this dessert display. there's a witch's hat and glittered pumpkins as decor. they served white chocolate covered apples sprinkled with orange sugar sprinkles, lemon petit fours, jello petite glasses with ghost marshmallows, cake pops and more!

huge thanks to cristina and maggie for sharing this halloween celebration with us! hope you all enjoyed it - and if you want to recreate this party, visit their online party site to shop for most of the party details featured here!

HALLOWEEN 2012

Halloween 2012 Halloween 2012 Halloween 2012

yesterday's halloween was so much fun. the day started with the annual school's halloween day parade and classroom party. the kids get to wear their favorite costumes (they were all so cute!) and enjoyed a post-parade party with arts and crafts, sweet treats and a party favor to take home.

by the time i picked up aston from school, i can tell he was pooped. but he was a trooper as he knows later in the evening he has a whole block to T or T. his cousins daniel and david - ailynne's boys - were our early trick or treaters, so we headed out and finished the rest of the night with them. oh, and we also crashed a neighbor's block party - all in good fun!

mickey's spooktacular halloween party

Friday, October 26, 2012

i get really excited whenever i get party submissions and i can't wait to share it with you!

this super cute Mickey Spooktacular But Not So Spooky Halloween party submitted by patty of sweet treat stands is brimming with endless creative details. the unique twist of shabby chic and spooky fun party decor is so much fun. we are a few days away from halloween and let this amazing party be an inspiration to any halloween party plans you may have.

as patty shared, read on all the details and DIY projects she did to prepare for this party :

"Ive been wanting to throw a Halloween party for years. Our little 2-yr old boy loves Mickey! So I decided to throw a Mickey themed Halloween party. I knew I wanted it to be different though. I did a spin off on the name from Disney's annual Halloween party, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. I decided on a shabby chic look. The tablecloth is made of burlap fabric with an orange and black tulle ruffle"

"Halloween banner is made with different printed scrapbook paper, fan paper design, Mickey and spider web cutouts.  Twine was used to thread the banner.
The cupcake stand has 3-tiers wrapped in a variety of fabrics: orange with black dots, muslin/cheesecloth, black with orange dots and black lace on the insets in between the tiers. Black chandelier style beads are also hanging from each tier. The middle tier is a Mickey Mummy theme. It's covered in a cream colored muslin fabric and then wrapped in cheesecloth like a mummy with a Mickey cut out using beautiful black printed scrapbook paper and just his eyes peeking through. I brought this theme back to the top of the cupcake stand with a Mickey Mummy head wrapped in torn strips of cream colored muslin and cheesecloth and adorned Mickey's ears with the same black chandelier style beads as well"

"For the backdrop, I incorporated the same/similar fabrics from the cupcake stand and tablecloth such as the orange and black polk-a-dotted fabrics, muslin, burplap and lace. The backdrop was made of fabric strips that varied in texture, color and width. They were staggered in length and even knotted together to add fullness and dimension"

"The food ranged from gourmet style Granny Smith apples dipped in homemade caramel, semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, sprinkles and Oreo cookie crumbs with real tree branches. Homemade Mickey Mouse cookies drizzled in orange, black and white colored chocolate, Oreo cookie pops drizzled in white chocolate for that "mummy" look adorned above hand painted black wooden coffins that were filled with candies. There was also an assortment of chocolate covered/drizzled pretzel sticks and popcorn snack mix. There were a variety of yummy Halloween cupcakes from cute Mickey Mummy cupcakes to beautiful fondant covered cupcakes that were also nut free. The fondant cupcakes displayed were spider, mummy, spider web and ghost designed fondant cupcakes that were cream filled and provided by Juliette of Fairy Tale Cakes. Candy favor boxes with Mickey shape cutouts and ribbon were also provided. To match beautifully wrapped juice boxes in coordinating colors, ribbon, Mickey shape cutouts as well as Mickey Mummies and Mickey Ghosts. So cute!"

thanks patty for sharing this incredible halloween party!

halloween costumes

Friday, September 16, 2011

while we are in halloween mode here in the blog, might as well share some of the cutest and unique costume ideas for your little ones (and some furry friends too). there are tons of tutorials for DIY costumes out there if you are a crafty and creative mom but unlike me, i settle for an inexpensive store-bought costume. i have not used a sewing machine ever (i know, shame on me) but that does not stop me from admiring one-of-a-kind unique DIY costumes that are just too adorable!

halloween sweet treats

Thursday, September 15, 2011

i think it's time to round up a few tempting halloween treat ideas to serve your little monsters, ghouls, super heroes and princesses this coming halloween. i just came from target and the costumes are out taking over empty missoni for target spaces. i scored an inexpensive super hero costume for aston and i'm good to go!

here are some sweet dessert ideas for you to serve for your halloween playdates and parties. even with just store-bought cookies and cupcakes, you can spruce them with m&ms, pretzels, hershey kisses etc to create a more halloween-themed treats!

you can easily recreate these desserts at home with just a few colorful candies, melted chocolate and crushed up oreos. a little imagination would help too!
