book exchange party

Thursday, March 21, 2013

when cat decided her kids have a joint birthday party, they had the perfect theme that both boys and girls can enjoy - a book exchange birthday party. it was a very neat idea where guests come and bring their favorite books instead of toy gifts for the celebrants and they get to go home with a new book as well as their party favors!

but first of all, cat who's not a stranger to this blog - both of her previous parties were featured here and here, is such a talented photographer and when she's not doing that, she's a very hands-on mom. she's definitely so creative and full of amazing ideas - i can learn a thing or a lot from her!

a beautiful wreath made of pages from old books found in goodwill stores. it greeted the guests and set the tone for the rest of the book-themed decor!

invitations that cat handmade were again made out of pages from an old book and envelopes and cards mimic a library card! such a creative idea!

i personally love the instagram images she printed and modge podged to woodblocks her rockstar husband JT makes - check out their custom wood works shop HERE. such a great way to display the kiddos pictures even way after the party!

here's another shot showing a better picture of the woodblocks with pictures. they were placed above stacked books wrapped in colorful wrapping paper. and here's a closeup shot below - so darling!

here's another party decor detail i love, her banners made of old book pages and round lanterns. such a clever idea!

the food display has a book page garland as a backdrop and a chalkboard with the most appropriate note. snacks were placed atop books and milk bottles wrapped with book pages. i love the simplicity of it but with such a major impact especially with the garland!

kid guests get to go home with a new book and bookworm candies and book labels!

for the complete set of images and all details, head over to cat's constant in chaos blog! thank you cat for sharing with us these amazing party - can't wait to see what you got planned for them later this year!
