easter ready

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

easter and spring is one of my favorite times of the year. lots to celebrate. spring time, easter and ben's  birthday. we tend to celebrate his birthday around easter just in time to have family and relatives over to celebrate both occasions.

here's a little inspiration for your home if you are planning to host an easter brunch or easter egg hunting for the kids. classic spring touches of gingham, bunny bunting and an egg wreath all in pretty pastel palette will be perfect.

red, white and you

HAPPY JULY 4th folks!

whatever you're doing today, i hope it involves lots of sparkles and fireworks and tons of patriotic red, white and blue. i am chilling out with the family today. we hope to catch a movie early in the day, do some grilling and catch the fireworks display in our neighborhood town center and later on TV!

i couldn't help but pull together a festive table centerpiece using old party items in the house at the last minute. pinwheels were from aston's 3rd birthday party, red and blue tin pails from last year's party and some mason jars, popcorn paper buckets and cupcake liners from my pantry. the wire tiered tray is from world market and the blue patterned runner is from williams-sonoma scored recently. i had fun putting this together. here's a peek from last year's july 4th tablescape!

linens and things

Friday, July 1, 2011

i love to dress up my dining table even with the simplest of things like grocery bought flowers, a pretty tablecloth, napkins or placemats. but if you want to take it up a notch and dine in swanky style ~ here are a few fantastic finds spotted recently on NM online. check them out :

this set of monogrammed paper placemats with the lovely background quatrefoil pattern, are perfect as gifts for the preppy hostess! it comes in a pad of 25 for $ 48.

one of the hottest trend is my favorite ikat pattern and these napkins are simply gorgeous! made of cotton - this set of 4 is $ 40.

these gingham table napkins and placemats are ideal for your outdoor picnics. they come in rolls until you are ready to use them - tear it and use it! $ 35/roll for napkins and $ 45/roll for placemats.

made of recycled paper, the vintage old-world look of this paper placemat makes it elegant even for a casual gathering. comes in two designs, the set is $ 20/50 sheets.

lastly, another favorite pattern of mine (as well as everyone else) is the chevron. these monogrammed paper napkins are fun and chic! $ 52 for 100 cocktail napkins and $ 76 for 100 buffet napkins/guest towels.

ENJOY THE LONG WEEKEND EVERYONE!

patterns and prints

Saturday, June 4, 2011

there's no question i love colorful patterns and prints. so when i finally got my monogrammed melamine plates, i didnt hesitate to try it out with another bold pattern, in this case a pink liner over white tablecloth - for a bright summer tablescape perfect for a baby/bridal shower, outdoor brunch or a girly soiree.

to tame the crazy patterns, i limited the color scheme to two colors, pink and green and kept the decor simple. i only had macarons on hand, so i added those as treats.

to sum it up, i think it's a bold move to marry two prints together in table decor but in my opinion it still works!

what do you think? what are your thoughts?

easter decorating [by martha]

Sunday, March 20, 2011

you've seen my early easter tablescape i set up a few weeks ago highly inspired by some of the most gorgeous centerpieces and tablescapes from martha stewart. i've compiled a few of her easter tables over the years and i especially love the use of eggs, eggcups and flowers in one arrangement to signify easter!

my own spring tablescape blogpost last friday got me going with this easter table centerpiece and placesettings and i just had a blast putting it together. i started with my old ceramic birds in our home and i just added a few bunny friends, egg chocolates, sugar cookies and pretty flowers and voila - it made for a lovely easter tablescape! i hope you all like it!
